Take Me

by E. Joy

Take me into nature
Where tranquility blends with chaos
That’s where I thrive

Take me to the woods
Sunlight streams through the leaves like stained glass
We will balter on moss to the caws of blue jays and sparrows

We’ll breathe in the fresh air with new lungs,
Listening to the wind’s whispers that shake the flora
Gale will answer all your questions if you dare ask

Take me to the stream
I can wash away the sorrows that plague my mind
In the virgin water hidden from society

We can flow with the peace of the little ponds
See what’s beneath the surface
As I cleanse myself of a whirlpool of emotions

Clarity reflects back

Take me to the mountains
Up there, I’ll be closer to the sun
Feel the blanket of warmth

I’ll be a soaring bird as I lay my head on your shoulder
Thinking how lovely it is to escape with you
In what’s left of Eden

When the sunsets
Our eyes are kissed by gold
As the chill brings us closer

Touch the sparkling stars that shine in the darkness
On a mountain peak, we’ll be closer to the moon
To where lovers hide

Take me into your mind
Open up about your darkest secrets
Please let me see everything, demons included

I do not fear much of anything anymore

Show me all your scars and all your smiles
Take my hand and show me your heart
I won’t bruise it

Take me back to all the memories that define your essence
As I’ve taken you into nature
Which defines me

Will you take me?
Please take me

E. Joy never knows what will inspire her because one moment she’s rollerblading and getting the idea of a poem about heartbreak, and the next she’s doing headstone repairs, and a poem of past lovers comes to fruition. Her favorite topics to write involve intense emotions, including love, death, spiritual awakenings, and answering psychological questions.  E. Joy’s first book Through Her Honey Eyes is scheduled to be published December 2024 on Amazon.
