A Brighter Light

By Bobbi Sinha-Morey

The peace that memories bring
simmers inside my soul and
it's a blessing when I hold them
tight; they're like second chances,
pondering every move so the next
time around there will be no
mistake and you've grown wiser.
Day after day you untie the knots
of the past, lean towards a brighter
light so you begin every day
thoughtful and ready, tracing
the future path with your senses
and fingertips, yet I often tremble
by the coming of dusk, afraid my
wishes or dreams will turn to dust.
What I have left are moments
to carry in my heart I can always
revisit that will wipe away a grey
sky, sprinkle a little love on me
to waken my spirit and keep me
alive.
