by Kelli Weldon
Wonder reaches for me in the garden
down the street from the church, bells chiming
she peers into the pond of koi, swirls of orange and white
and then we are passing the places that made me,
places where she sparkled and sang
and she was alive and I was oblivious
to change. In the car she talks over the radio,
turns up the A/C while the city she loved begins
to glitter and glow before the start of night.
